Awwww yeah. You guys, I love Lesla-Lar so much, okay? SO MUCH. She’s so evil and she has absolutely no motivation and it’s just an utter delight. MOAR LESLA-LAR, ALWAYS!
But how did Linda get in this predicament? Well, let’s turn back the clock to last issue, when Supergirl still had her powers:
I do love a villain who knows when to point angrily at nothing.
As you might have guessed, Lesla-Lar is responsible for Linda’s loss of powers:
The Danverses are here! Hi, Danverses! Also, I guess the adoption process consists of looking at a lineup of orphans and picking the one in the most non-matching outfit?
Anyway, Linda can see no reason not to let herself be adopted by the Danverses, since she’s no longer Supergirl, and so the deed is done:
There’s something so sad about that first panel.
I like Fred, so let’s pretend that he’s not being kind of controlling and creepy here, okay? Also, I still don’t love that Contempo Cut, but she does look older.
Linda’s still bummed about her lost superpowers, but things are about to get worse, thanks to Lesla-Lar:
This being the Silver Age, where everyone had about twenty people wandering around who looked exactly like them, no one notices the swap. Linda, believing herself to be Lesla-Lar, puts in a few hours at the lab and enjoys wandering around seeing the sights of Kandor. Meanwhile, Lesla-Lar does a lot of cackling and rubbing her hands together with wicked glee:
I love that she never misses a single opportunity to be evil. Speaking of which, she’s about to make a new friend:
Off the two of them go to commit crimes, neither of them trusting the other. I really feel like there should be a hilarious musical number here:
Movin’ right along in search of gold bars and ingots
With death rays and robots
This could become a habit!
Naturally, Linda, watching from Kandor, can’t allow such evilness to go unchecked:
There’s something really intense and gothic about that last panel. I love it.
Gasp! What evilness is Lesla-Lar cooking up? What will happen to Linda Lee, now Linda Danvers? And will she ever get her powers back?
